Finding a happy hour needs no account. We do not know who you are. The iPhone app sends us anonymous usage statistics, so we can see which parts of the app are used, and an anonymous push token if you allow notifications. Neither is linked to you. The only accounts are for venue owners who manage their own listing.
The iPhone app
No account, no tracking, no advertising. The app contains no advertising software and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Anonymous usage statistics. The app tells our own server (briceworks.com, not a third party) how it is used: which screens are opened, which buttons are tapped (for example which happy hours are opened, and the words of a search that found nothing, so we can add what is missing), whether widgets or the lock-screen countdown are in use, and errors it ran into. Each report carries a random ID created when the app is installed, the iPhone model, iOS version, app version, language and time zone. Our network provider (Cloudflare) tells our server the country and city the request came from; the IP address itself is not stored. No name, account, precise location or contacts are sent, and nothing is shared with or sold to anyone.
Your location stays on your iPhone. It is used to show what is near you, to sort by distance, for the periscope, and — only if you turn it on — to tell you when you walk up to a happy hour that is on. It is never sent to us.
Favorites stay with you. They are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, synced between your own devices by Apple. We never receive your list of favorites; usage statistics only count how many you have.
Alerts are worked out on your iPhone from the happy hour schedules it has already downloaded. Nothing is sent to us to schedule them.
Announcements, if you allow notifications. Your iPhone then sends us an anonymous push token — a random code Apple issues so we can deliver a notification to this app — along with whether it is a test build and the app version. It is not linked to you: no name, account, location, favorites or IP address is stored with it, and it is used for nothing but sending Map Happy Hour announcements. It is deleted when you turn notifications off, when Apple tells us the token is no longer valid, or after nine months without the app being opened.
The camera is used only for the periscope's live view. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent.
The app downloads happy hour listings and photos from maphappyhour.com. As with any website request, our server and our network provider (Cloudflare) see the IP address the request came from. We do not link it to anything.
Visit statistics. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets cookies and reports to Google; see Google's privacy policy.
Your location, if you tap the locate button, is used in your browser to centre the map. It is not sent to us.
Messages. The site's inbox shows our announcements. Which ones you have seen or read is kept only in your browser and is never sent to us.
What you submit. If you suggest a happy hour or a correction, we keep what you sent — the venue details and any photo — so it can be reviewed and published. Do not include personal information in a submission.
Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we keep your message, the email you give us and anything else you choose to add, so we can reply. It reaches us by email through our provider, Resend. We do not use it for anything else.
Venue owners. If you claim a venue as its owner or manager, we keep the name, email and phone you give us so we can confirm it is you and contact you about that listing. Signing in uses a code we email you and a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; we keep a record of sign-ins and changes made to listings. Email is sent through our provider, Resend. We do not use your details for anything else or share them, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time.
